2012 Memories Tour

Fight The Silence Tour Updates!

I have been writing weekly tour updates about me and Brandi's time on For Today's Fight The Silence Tour - a run that we are on, currently, representing XXXChurch.com. I have had the opportunity to present Pretty In Pornography, explain a bit of the vision behind XXXChurch, and invite whoever wantes to into our Confessions Video Booth to share their stories, as well. You can see my updates for week one and two here:

Pretty In Pornography is an older poem, rewritten and reworked a bit for the video that, four years after the poem's debut, has finally been made. This piece is blunt and dear to my heart - it has probably gotten me the most flak of anything that I've written throughout my years touring as Levi The Poet. I did not write it so that I could be edgy, I wrote it so that I could be repentant before a culture that shies away from acknowledging it's destructive power, and invite others to do the same. I am convinced that pornography is the most destructive force in our society - which certainly does not mean that I despise the pornographers (as many a person will wrongly assume)! I love them, and Jesus loves them, and I would desire that we, as a church, love them better, buy refusing to idolize, objectify and use them as nothing better than a means of producing excrement that we flush down the toilet. They, and we, are created in the image and likeness of a God who loves us wholeheartedly, and died to prove that love and invite us into a new life through his son Jesus Christ.

As with Kaleidoscope's release last week, the same group of men from Mars Hill ABQ's Media & Communications team helped film and promote this video in conjunction with a sermon entitled "The Porn Path" coming up on the end of our Real Marriage series. We incorporated a performance of this piece into the order of service for our Albuquerque campus today.

Kaleidoscope Video Posted

Watch the video here: KALEIDOSCOPE.

Kaleidoscope
was written from two perspectives. One: a woman who was sexually assaulted by her father (and many men to follow), neglected by her mother, and skeptical about a God that could allow and/or love her through the pain. She works as a prostitute, convinced that her abuse was her fault, and trusts in little else than her daughter. The second perspective: a nameless someone who desires for her to know that she is loved, who persistently acts as a glimmer of hope, and speaks the truth of her inherent beauty as made in the image and likeness of God.

A creative team of men at Mars Hill Church Albuquerque filmed and edited the video to be released with the Real Marriage series (http://marshill.com/real-marriage) that Pastor Mark Driscoll is walking our church through right now. This poem was performed yesterday in conjunction with the sermon "Disgrace & Grace" - which dealt with sexual sin and assault.

For more information on the topic, I would highly recommend Justin & Lindsey Holcomb's Rid Of My Disgrace: Hope & Healing For Victims Of Sexual Assault, found here.

Monologues EP Releases Today via Come&Live!

Hello everyone!

Today is the official release date for Monologues EP via Come&Live! That means that if you would like to go get yourself a copy of the album, you can have it completely free at www.comeandlive.com - digital booklet and all!

Come&Live! is a community of missionally-minded artists who want to make Jesus famous. You may download my EP for free, pay for it with a tweet or status update, or donation to Levi The Poet (i.e. - my wife and I) financially.

(Please note: if you do contribute to our efforts monetarily via Come&Live!, you MUST specify "For Levi The Poet" in the Comments or Questions section of the secure donation form, otherwise your gift will not be put specifically towards this project.)

Otherwise, if you want to gift Come&Live!, just leave it blank, and you can do that as well. It's a beautiful family / community of folks that are absolutely in love with Jesus and care about getting other people to be absolutely in love with Jesus, as well. I'm stoked on that. C&L! is a total answer to prayer, and I'm excited to see what Jesus does with this project, my family and that family in our future!

Love you all,
Levi

LTP Interview w/ The Common Eclectic

A neat website called The Common Eclectic emailed me about the possibility of asking me some questions about a week ago now, and I must say - it was one of the most in-depth interviews I've had the honor to participate in. Check it out here: LTP & The Common Eclectic
