Long Time, No Talk (and a fun art project for you)

Hey guys!

It's Levi, and it's been too long. I wanted to fill you in on life, love, stress and setbacks – for those tryin' to breathe... show me where your head's at.

(Those are some old Beyond / Atmosphere B.L.A.K. Culture lyrics that always get stuck in my head... stuff isn't actually all that dire at the moment.)

First things first... if you're a quick skimmer who just wants a clear call to action (lol), feel free to skip on down to the next sentence in bold. Otherwise, take your time, you know? Sit back. Relax.

Anyway, I haven't really been living under a rock, per se, but I have been taking a little bit of a "LTP" break from the road / booking / always being gone and trying to just... be a little normal person for a while here at home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

That has included a social media hiatus, as well, which – if you caught my interview with Jamie Tworkowski toward the end of last year – has become something of a practice that I implement periodically for the sake of my own well-being. It can get pretty overwhelming out there on the Wild Wild Web.

I've still been writing letters to The Fraction Club and interacting with those folks on a weekly basis through our private Discord server. It's become a pretty rad little online community, if I do say so myself...

Lately, though I've been missing everybody here. My heart continues to long for the art and music community, and I know that there are a ton of people who have been incredible fans (and many: fans become friends), supporters and followers of my work throughout the years, regardless of whether y'all have had anything to do with The Fraction Club or not.

As I've been on a bit of a reflective kick here recently, and the ten-year anniversary of my very first tour is coming up this July, I wanted to write to say thank you. A decade as a DIY artist has been no small feat. Although, lets be real, the acronym should really be DIWTHOAYB...

Do It With The Help Of All Your Buds!

(You are included in the "buds" category.)

That said, I started something fun this January for all the buds (that's such a stupid word but it makes me laugh) who have been willing to tell me on what day they came in to this world. In other words...

Birthdays are worth celebrating, you know? After all... it's all worth living for (and that'll make sense if you've seen my video for this poem).

Here's the deal, though. I can't tell you what the birthday gifts are. That would spoil the surprise, after all. If you want to find out, you'll have to wait for it...

And yes, this form does work for all of my out-of-country friends, as well. I know we were having an issue with that in the past... the birthday gifts absolutely apply to everyone, all over the world, so please help me out and take advantage of it.

I know I'm being all secretive and stuff, but thus far, the feedback from people who's birthdays I do know has been really cool, and I think it's worth it to keep your gift "wrapped" until your special day, too.

I do, per usual, have approximately one billion ideas for new things that I'd like to accomplish before year's end. Finger's crossed, we'll get there together.

For the time being, though, I really do hope y'all are doing well. It's nice to be able to take some time off after so many years spent entirely on, but it hasn't come without it's challenges... and one of which has been, simply, missing connecting with you – whether out on the road, or through a blog post like this one.

It's good to write you today, and I hope it's good to be heard from.

In a couple of days, I'm planning to hit you back again with a couple of things that I think:

  1. You're going to really love, and

  2. You're going to really laugh at.

Let's just say that – if you're a fan of good art and also my now-infamous cat Gilbert – I think I'll be able to accomplish both.

Talk to you then,

P.S. Don't forget to tell me when your birthday is by updating your info, here
