Week No. 05

I let go of my desire for safety and security.

it is gracious and compassionate,
like monday morning at rainbow ridge,
when tree wrapped her arms around me
the way we did when we were kids,
laid her head against my chest,
gave me language:

helped me sing
hallelujah
again.

I knew then that love is not coercive,
but listen — when it hits:
it is useless to resist.

it is beauty that draws us in.
it is belief that lets us go.
it is god that relentlessly gifts himself
as irresistibly anti-manipulative.

there is no better answer than “yes”
to the invitation that life is.

i’m not looking for splints.
i want resurrection.
it’s time to bury the seed.
