Week No. 04

I let go of my desire for affection, esteem, approval and pleasure.

Don’t pander, because eventually you realize your “not lies” were lies, and the biggest of them were the ones you told yourself. Pandering becomes prison, and if your livelihood is attached to it, then you get an ankle monitor thrown in.

Under what circumstances and/or around what people are you most likely to feel like you must pander or placate in order to earn a sense of belonging? This could be a physical or digital space. Are you able to understand why this might be the case? In contrast, what kind of places and people do you feel comfortable taking your armor off around? (Consider exchanging the frustrating answer to the first question with a vocal thankfulness toward those who embody safety in the second.)
