Levi The Poet presents:

Clothes for Ghosts

(Using Writing To Give Bodies

To The Haunted Parts of You)

It has been said that stories are survival information…”

They’ve certainly been that for me. I’m interested in the way writing and storytelling help us heal and discover a sense of wholeness — the spirituality of the written word. I love to help people bring their inner world to surface, where they can see who they actually are, and live into an openhearted expression of that truth, for the sake of the world.

Though I wouldn’t have had the vocabulary for it as a child scribbling poetry into his notebooks, I realize now that writing is and has always been — for me — a kind of shovel. An excavation device.

Just what, exactly, is inside of us? What wants to be set free?

During my time as a creative coach for one-on-one clients, I started to notice that, almost without fail, similar questions and patterns of conversation would arise during our sessions, and I wanted to take some of the best of them to create an at-your-own-pace option for folks looking to do some “inner excavation” work through their writing.

In Clothes For Ghosts… I’ve compiled the most common of these threads into my very first writing course.

For anyone interested in using writing as a way of traversing the inner landscape that is you, I want to — if you’ll allow it — be something of a flashlight. A hand to hold along your way.

Over the course of sixteen video modules, I invite you to explore you. We’ll use writing as a tool for grounding and growth, inclusion and transcendence, being and becoming. Each lesson will provide teachings and exercises to help you reflect on your past, connect to your present, and engage with the Ground of your Being from a place rooted where your feet are: right here, and right now.

Using Writing to Give Bodies to the Haunted Parts of You

Writing serves as both a mirror and a bridge — helping you articulate your story, explore your emotions, and gain clarity about just what in the world is actually going on inside. As you put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard), you'll uncover new perspectives on how to navigate change, embrace vulnerability, and cultivate lasting connections — with yourself, others, and — should you risk such a thing — the Divine.

Through this course, you'll discover how writing can be a powerful tool to live more consciously, with a deeper sense of understanding, no matter where you find yourself today.

Kind Words from Kind Humans

Workshop Overview

Rooted in my own experience as a lifelong devotee to a practice that has saved me countless times over, each lesson in this course will provide you with not only teaching, but personal examples and stories of my own. I don’t want or need to be an ideological expert — I want provide you with presence and a felt sense of being safely held by a kind of empathetic witness to your own process.

By clicking below on each of the module titles, you can get a summarized feel for the ground we’ll be covering together along the way.

Section One

  • This module introduces the course and sets the foundation for the journey ahead. You’ll learn how writing can help you reconnect with a sense of wholeness by integrating your fragmented experiences—vulnerability, grief, joy, and anger—into an ever-unfolding “completion.” Through guided exercises, we’ll create space for compassion and self-awareness, allowing you to honor all parts of yourself. This session lays the explorative groundwork for the rest of the course.

  • In this module, I share my journey as a writer and performer, offering insight into my personal experience and how it has shaped this workshop. You'll learn about my background, from touring as Levi The Poet to working as a creative coach, and how these experiences influence my approach to writing and healing. I’ll also discuss my passion for mental health advocacy and the role writing has played in my own healing. This session gives you context for the tools and perspectives I’ll be sharing throughout the course, setting the stage for our work together.

  • In this video, I share the idea that "we teach what we want to learn"—for me, that’s been a lifelong practice of what I now recognize as the use of writing for the purpose of “excavation.” As we go through this workshop, I’ll offer tools and insights that helped me find peace and wholeness. Writing can be a powerful way to reconnect with yourself, others and the Divine, and I’m here to guide you through that process, offering empathy and support along the way. Let’s explore how writing can help you find your breath.

  • This video emphasizes the need for a safe, non-judgmental space for writing, especially with stream-of-consciousness exercises. Trust your pages to hold whatever comes through—whether joy or pain. By creating this container, you allow yourself to explore and express freely. Grab a journal (physical or digital) and make it your own for this journey.

  • This video dives into the importance of writing freely—without judgment or the need to impress. Write anything, even the messiest thoughts, to break through perfectionism and self-criticism. The goal is to observe your thoughts, let them flow, and simply be present with the process—no expectations. Whether handwritten or digital, how do we let go and trust the process?

  • How is writing a “spiritual practice”?How do we use it to help us uncover what's beneath the surface? You'll be encouraged to write without judgment, allowing whatever comes up—whether light or dark—to be explored. Whether difficult or rewarding, it's important to approach your mirror with gentleness and support.

  • One of the most frequently asked questions I receive in my one-on-one sessions is: when and how do I share my work without it affecting who or what I’m writing about? Short answer, you don’t, but there are some things to consider before you hit “publish.” Here, we’ll explore the tension between vulnerability and timing. Your pages are a safe space for everything—the sacred and the profane, your deepest wounds and greatest joys. But before sharing these with others, it’s important to reflect on whether you're ready and who you trust. You'll be invited to consider how much of your vulnerability you want to expose and whether it’s healing or hindering your process.

  • In this video, we explore how early experiences of dismissal and intrusion shape our creative expression. You'll learn how conversive with your woundedness can lead to healing and liberation, and be given practices for doing so. We’ll also reflect on how protecting the safety of your creative space and being mindful of when and how you share it can deeply impact both your work and relationships.

Section Two

  • This video explores the power of expressing suppressed emotions to find clarity and healing. Through a client’s journey of confronting long-held anger, I demonstrate how releasing emotions like anger, grief, and confusion can bring new freedom. Writing through these feelings, especially in moments of deep distress, can unlock both mental and physical vitality, offering an often unseen path for move forward.

  • In this module, I dive into the process of unlayering the beliefs and identities that have accumulated over time, clouding your true self. Through the analogy of "getting dressed" in beliefs, I explore how we often lose sight of who we are beneath the layers of external influences. The journey to rediscovering your authentic self involves peeling back these layers, questioning their origins, and letting go of what no longer serves you. With insights from therapy, poetry, and spiritual teachings, this video encourages you to find your true voice and embrace your original unity.

  • What’s the difference between vulnerability and oversharing— especially when sharing personal stories involving others? I discuss the difference between using writing for personal catharsis and the responsibility of sharing it publicly. Drawing from my own experience and client work, I emphasize discernment in how and when to share pain, considering the impact on both yourself and others. You'll learn how to navigate this balance in your creative process, with a focus on emotional readiness and thoughtful sharing.

  • What if you have "vulnerability block" more than “writer’s block?” In this lesson, I share an intimate story about a man wrestling with the tension of personal transformation, faith, and the potential risks of expressing his current “now.” It’s possible to engage with the "scary" parts of ourselves—those puzzle pieces that don’t seem to fit—and to shift from fear to curiosity. By writing out dialogues with our fears, we can better know and integrate them, unlocking deeper understanding about how they got to be so scary in the first place.

  • In this video, I explore how my personal pain, especially from losing my father to suicide, has turned into survival information for others. I’ve seen how sharing our struggles can save lives. This course is part of that journey, where our stories of healing can offer hope and remind people that they are loved, they belong, and they’re not alone. By owning our stories, we create spaces for others to find strength and purpose.

  • “If you write for everybody, you write for no one, so this will be for you…” I’ll teach you how starting with personal experiences creates relatability that resonates universally. You'll learn how writing from an authentic place can build solidarity and connection, rather than isolating others. This approach not only strengthens your work but also builds a bridge between your story and those who need to hear it.

  • Drawing from Dr. Bessel van der Kolk’s idea that trauma arises from being unseen, I emphasize that empathy and presence are deeply healing… and contagious. We have a shared humanity that exists beneath all of our differences. Art and personal stories help us shed walls predicated upon “uniformity” in exchange for bridges upheld by our common unity. After all, we’re all standing on the same Ground.

  • In this final video, I share a deeply personal letter I wrote to my past self, reflecting on the journey from where I was to where I am now. It’s a meditation on growth, loss, forgiveness, love, and compassion. I talk about everything from the breakdown of my marriage to finding meaning in suffering, and how the path forward requires both surrender and resilience. This letter is an invitation for you to reflect on your own past, offering insight into how we can love and forgive ourselves, even as we navigate life’s toughest moments. I hope this will help you reframe your struggles and find peace in the journey ahead.

Hi, I’m Levi, and that’s Frank (more on him, here).

I think that people are miracles, and they deserve to be treated as such.

If you’re looking for something “professional” here, it’s probably easiest to just look at my CV, though that won’t really get to the heart or essence of the why behind this course.

I made this course for people interested in writing as a form of inner excavation. Though I wouldn’t have had the language for it as a middle-schooler, scribbling against a chain-linked fence, I know now: that’s what it has always been for me. Twenty-odd-years later, some of my greatest joy has come from working one-on-one with folks who have light-bulbs flicker on — both inside and above their heads — when something starts to land for them.

What you’ll find here is a distillation of the process by which we often explore that great, submerged iceberg beneath the surface of the waters in which we swim, and I hope it serves you well. I hope you start to see yourself as that very ocean.
