Week No. 02 — Introduction

Lent 2023 | Day 08 | Wednesday, March 01

☝️ This is helpful because more often than not, my thoughts are a frenzied bee colony buzzing around inside of a hive that somebody may as well have just hit with a baseball bat, and telling them to shush just makes the noise louder. I've found it much more helpful to come to terms with the chaos, using the breath to activate my parasympathetic nervous system and naturally come alongside my anxieties, allowing them to settle on their own.

Also, when it comes to "persons" this is helpful, because it reminds me that the interruptions I will likely face in my writing time — such as my wife or our housemate beginning to wake, move about the house, maybe even distract me with questions — are to be received gently, rather than rejected angrily.

As the saying goes, “The obstacle is the way.”

Finally, situations and conditions change and fluctuate all of the time. I can be a rigid man, if you want to know the truth, and reminding myself of the importance of flexibility is a must.
