Something Merciful
Lent 2023 | Day 33 | Thursday, March 30
Week No. 06
I let go of my desire to change any situation, condition, person or myself.
-
Welcome, welcome, welcome.
I welcome everything that comes to me today
because I know it is for my healing.I welcome all thoughts, feelings, emotions, persons, situations, and conditions.
I let go of my desire for power and control.
I let go of my desire for affection, esteem, approval and pleasure.
I let go of my desire for survival and security.
I let go of my desire to change any situation, condition, person or myself.
I open to the love and presence of God and God’s action within.
Amen.

Text in bold is this week’s focus.
Quote Of The Day
Something merciful and healing happens when you decide that escaping yourself is no longer an option. Our recreation requires this, and we rest in the merciful bath of self acceptance.

Song Of The Day
Prompt Of The Day
What is it like to be who you are? When you think about yourself, are you able to be content with the person you’re thinking about? What frustrations arise? What “problems?” How quickly does it lead to self-deprecation?
What would it take for you to be able to give yourself the same kind of grace that you’d likely give to your friends if they came to you with the same kind of condemnations? What would you tell them? Can you offer the love you’d give to yourself? Can you receive the Love that God has for you here, in the quiet?

[NEED RESPONSE]
I love Conor Oberst’s flipping that tyranny on its head in this song. Kinda like Eminem in 8 Mile, rapping about / owning all of his own “shortcomings” and turning them into his superpowers. Kinda seems like vulnerability is a superpower in and of itself. 🤷♀️
