Lent 2023 | Day 22 | Friday, March 17

Week No. 04

I let go of my desire for affection, esteem, approval and pleasure.

  • Welcome, welcome, welcome.
I welcome everything that comes to me today
because I know it is for my healing.

I welcome all thoughts, feelings, emotions, persons, situations, and conditions.

I let go of my desire for power and control.

I let go of my desire for affection, esteem, approval and pleasure.

I let go of my desire for survival and security.

I let go of my desire to change any situation, condition, person or myself.

I open to the love and presence of God and God’s action within.

    Amen.

Text in bold is this week’s focus.

Quote Of The Day

Always remember that it is impossible to speak in such a way that you cannot be misunderstood: there will always be some who misunderstand you.

- Karl Popper

Song Of The Day

Prompt Of The Day

How does the fear of being misunderstood keep you from standing on your own two feet? How do you cope with this reality? Do you find that you’re able to move through it and into a place of honest integrity, or do you quiet yourself for the sake of placating some other? How do you balance this sense of “you” with the desire for (if you have it) an openness toward those who may push back on the you they see?

  • [NEEDTO finish RESPONSE]

As a recovering people-pleaser, I am a master at over-analysis and counterbalances. Those who have followed my work for long enough will laugh at their remembrance of my novel-long emails, devil’s-advocating myself out into space. There’s a part of that that I love about myself
